SMALL PEOPLE, GOOD DAYS
Family things to do in Cape Town
Build the day around the youngest person in the group. One main activity, a proper meal break and an optional short stop are usually easier to manage than a packed route with several transfers.

For a dry day: start with Green Point Park
The park is a free-entry option for a family outing. Leave the length of the visit flexible: an hour might be enough for your group, while others may want a longer pause. Check the visitor guide for park rules and access before leaving.
Bring water, sun protection and snacks that suit your children. Decide where to meet if someone needs a break. Keep a promenade walk optional, rather than making a second outdoor stop the condition for finishing the day.

The Aquarium at the Waterfront is a paid option. Its official visitor page lists weekday opening at 09:30 and weekend, public-holiday and school-holiday opening at 09:00, with closing at 18:00. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
Use the official ticket page for your group's actual admission total; age bands and offers can affect it. Allow about two hours as a suggested visit window, then leave room for lunch. The Aquarium lists accessible flooring and nappy-changing facilities; contact it directly about your family's particular access needs.

After the Aquarium, look for food at the Waterfront instead of crossing town. Battery Park can be an optional outdoor stop if the weather, available time and everyone's energy allow it. Check the route from your actual exit and choose transport if the walking distance does not suit your group.
Agree on lunch before anyone gets tired: dietary requirements, a place to sit and an acceptable wait matter more than adding another attraction. Check that your preferred venue is open and can accommodate your group.

Start with the ages of the children and the confirmed admission total. Add your own food allowance, parking or return transport, and any equipment hire. Keep paid extras separate so a free park visit does not become an unexpectedly expensive outing.
Set a latest departure time and keep a weather alternative. If wind or rain makes the outdoor plan uncomfortable, change the main activity before setting off. When choosing an event, check its age restriction and actual session time rather than assuming every family-tagged listing suits every child.
